That Mississippi is reporting receiving $10 million more in revenue than projected for the fiscal year ending June 30 is certainly good news.
The question for some lawmakers will be whether to spend the surplus now, or budget it for next year.
Gov. Haley Barbour has been resistant to calling a special session to address issues that a budget surplus could help, and he’s right. It’s more prudent to craft a sustainable budget and stick to it.
