Melton: Coleman would earn $70K

By: Magnolia Tribune - April 9, 2007

The Clarion-Ledger, 4/8/7

Mayor Frank Melton said he plans to pay former Jackson Police Chief Bracy Coleman in the $70,000 range – or the salary of an assistant police chief and deputy chief – if Coleman is rehired.

Asked if he was fearful of being criticized for paying Coleman such a salary when the city is experiencing a $4.3 million deficit, Melton said his way of fighting crime is “costly.”
