We Are Winning: Iraq Forms Unity Government

The victory is slow, but steady:

World leaders have welcomed the formation of the first full-term Iraqi government since the 2003 invasion.

The cabinet unites members of the major Shia, Kurd and Sunni parties and is to hold its first meeting on Sunday.

Of course, for some people the glass is always half-empty:

With bomb blasts thundering outside the building and arguments raging inside, Iraq’s new parliament approved its first ever national unity government yesterday – urging a message of “love and tolerance” that its own members broke almost straightaway.

You’d almost think they want democracy in Iraq to fail.
