Chief: Felonies down 7% in Jackson
With less than three weeks to go in Jackson’s mayoral race, Police Chief Robert Moore on Wednesday released some news that his boss probably will use in his quest for a third term.
Police department statistics show felony crimes, which include homicide, robbery, assault and burglary, fell 7 percent during the first quarter of the year. From Jan. 1-March 31, police documented 2,991 property and violent crimes, down from the 3,211 reported in 2004.
