Wednesday morning at the Capitol, Governor Phil Bryant was joined by the Lt. Governor Tate Reeves, Speaker of the House Philip Gunn, as well as others to sign HB 366 into law.
The bill, authored by Speaker Gunn, would allow for co-ops to have the opportunity to provide broadband service to more rural communities that have otherwise been without options.

Governor Bryant said signing this bill into law is a success for the entire legislature as well as the rural electric associations.
“What a joyous occasion today. I think we are all excited about the opportunities this bill presents for our constituents in rural Mississippi,” said Lt. Governor Tate Reeves. “I think we should also mention how excited we are for the economic development and job opportunities it will bring.”
Speaker Gunn thanked everyone in the House who worked so hard on this bill, especially Chairman Beckett, who he said has been working on this bill for months.
“This is certainly something that is needed,” said Gunn. “Getting technology to those all across the state is beneficial to everyone.”
