MSU has high Relf-esteem

And this season, Mullen has two young quarterbacks to mold. The front-runner is Chris Relf, who struggled with MSU’s spread offense most of last season. But the 6-foot-4, 240-pound junior put everything together in the season finale, rushing for 131 yards and a touchdown and throwing for two more scores in a 41-27 upset of Ole Miss. And if Relf should stumble, No. 2 quarterback Tyler Russell is a capable reserve.

No matter who is under center, he’ll be operating behind a veteran offensive line and have the talented Chad Bumphis as a target. Throw in an upgraded defense and the Bulldogs should go bowling for just the second time this century.
MSU is favored by 21 tomorrow over Memphis, a bad team in the weak Conference USA. New Tigers coach Larry Porter may improve on last season’s 2-10 mark, but not by playing SEC foes on the road. Go Bulldogs!
