Drew Brees formed deep bond with Big Easy

He’s so lightning quick when getting rid of the football that it probably shouldn’t have come as a surprise Tuesday that Drew Brees ended his conference call with the Arizona media less than five minutes after it began.

He apologized, saying he had to rush to a team meeting.

But this is Drew Brees, the quarterback who not only helped resurrect an NFL franchise in New Orleans, but the generous humanitarian who helped rebuild an entire city after Hurricane Katrina wiped much of it away.

So it probably shouldn’t come as a surprise, either, that 90 minutes after cutting his interview short, he felt obligated to pick up the phone and call us back.
