In the Press-Register’s annual preseason special section, we explored the growing trend of true freshmen making an immediate impact in the SEC. Players such as Julio Jones, A.J. Green, Jeff Demps and Dont’a Hightower stepped straight out of their respective high schools and into college stadiums as freshman starters last year. This season, a handful of others will do the same thing.
There won’t likely be another Julio, but here are five freshmen who should become household names in 2009:
