Bulldogs’ popular AD treated for melanoma
STARKVILLE — Greg Byrne, the Mississippi State athletic director who has become wildly popular with his school’s fans in just a year on the job, wasn’t just giving a throwaway public service announcement when he told a reporter to urge people to wear sunscreen.
He spoke from experience.
The 37-year-old, who later this week will mark his first complete year as the Bulldogs athletic director, will undergo a procedure Wednesday to remove a mole that contains melanoma.
