College football faceoff: Urban Meyer is the face of today’s game

Clearly Andrea is stuck in 2004, when Pete Carroll was king and Ron Zook was stinking up Florida.

Carroll was the best, but his time has passed, the outdated MySpace to Urban Meyer’s new-and-trendy Twitter. He relinquished his throne to Meyer when he couldn’t go undefeated in the Pac-10 in any of the last three seasons.
After Meyer patched together the most dominant team in the most dominant conference for two of the last three years, the only way to keep up is to obliterate a middle-of-the-road conference like the Pac-10. Carroll isn’t pulling it off.
Critics can bash the snobby Southeastern Conference as an elitist league, but consider the talent Meyer has had to plow through. Rivals.com ranked nine SEC teams in its top-20 recruiting rankings for 2009.
