Veteran lefty Bukvich Ks 11, leads Rebels past Bulldogs
PEARL — Teammates joke that pitcher Brett Bukvich is actually 38 years old and has been with the Ole Miss baseball program for 20 years.
And while that’s not exactly true, the big left-hander is certainly something of a dinosaur for the Rebels in his fifth year with the team.
But don’t confuse being old with not being effective. Because as Mississippi State found out Tuesday night, he still has plenty of mileage in that left arm.
Striking out a career-high 11 batters in six innings, Bukvich led Ole Miss to an 8-1 victory over State in the Governor’s Cup in front of an announced 7,438 at Trustmark Park – the fifth-largest crowd in the stadium’s history.
