Hot Corner: Recruiting boost is also recruiting danger
Birmingham’s best chance to get back the Super 6 isn’t the mirage-like dome, it’s the NCAA.
Having prep football games on university campuses is a great boost for recruiting, and a potential hotbed for intentional or unintentional NCAA recruiting violations involving prospects playing in the games.
They’re on campus, surrounded for two days by college coaches, players, students and, potentially most troubling, rabid university boosters. And in the case of this state the games fall in the first week of a contact period after a long quiet period. University compliance directors and high school athletic associations ought to be sweating like a waterfall.
