Service academy teams worthy of admiration
As Alabama and Florida played for the SEC championship and for a spot in the BCS national championship game, I marveled at the incredible number of athletes playing for the Crimson Tide and Gators.
I was especially marveled by the athletic ability and mental toughness of the Gators’ quarterback, Tim Tebow. Along with his exceptional statistical achievements the reason I favor him for a second Heisman Trophy is because we have something in common: we’re both left-handed.
However, as important as the SEC championship game was, the ol’ coach was more focused on the 109th meeting between Army and Navy — focused as if my sons or grandson were playing for the Cadets and Midshipmen.
