OLE MISS LB:Trahan trying to make grade on field
OXFORD – Patrick Trahan knew he had to get it done in the world of literature before he could get it done in college football.
So the former Auburn player gave full attention to the task at hand when he had to pass 12 hours this summer at Northwest Community College to become eligible at Ole Miss.
“Lit I and II, Advanced Comp … There was no alternative to not getting it done. I sat in the first row, talked to the professors every day after class and ended up making really good grades,” he said.
Now Trahan is trying to make the grade in August camp to get on the field at Ole Miss.
Right now he’s passing, but he’s not excelling, and he remains with the second team.
He isn’t likely to make a jump after Saturday’s scrimmage if early observations from his professor – defensive coordinator Tyrone Nix – are an indication.
“I didn’t see enough of his play-making ability. We need him to be more consistent,” said Nix, who also coaches the linebackers.
