STARKVILLE – Around 2 p.m. today, Mississippi State will once again enter the confines of Scott Field for another scrimmage.
This time, the goals Sylvester Croom have set out are a little different than a week ago.
First and foremost, the fifth-year MSU coach said, he wants to narrow down the roster for the Louisiana Tech opener and see how they’ll be used in the games.
Second, there will be a lot of red zone work, especially in goal-line situations. And third, more emphasis will be placed on special teams, particularly kickoffs and kickoff coverage.
The day will start out as a normal practice and then conclude with the scrimmage, one that is closed to the media and public.
“There are some things we want to see, such as how the players respond in certain situations,” Croom said after Friday’s practice inside the Palmeiro Center.
