Nutt’s warning to Rebel fans: Give Powe time to adjust

OXFORD — There’s little doubt that Ole Miss football fans were giddy on Monday afternoon when Jerrell Powe was cleared to play football after a three-year eligibility saga.
But the question remains, after that long layoff, will Powe be able to make the monster contribution that many expect?
Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt warned fans not to get too excited about the 6-foot-2, 340-pound defensive lineman, even if he was one of the best prospects in the Class of 2005.
“I’ve heard he’s good, but he’s been awful far away from an SEC football field these past three years,” Nutt said. “You can’t just expect the young man to walk in and dominate. There’s going to be an adjustment period.”
