MSU basketball player Turner arrested
STARKVILLE — Phil Turner, a sophomore guard on Mississippi State’s basketball team, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct following an incident at an off-campus apartment on July 21.
Starkville Police Department records allege Turner, 20, would not comply with an officer’s requests to show his hands and had to be forced to have handcuffs put on him. An unsigned narrative of the arrest alleges Turner twice refused to sit on the ground and had to be forced to the ground.
Through an MSU spokesman, Turner wouldn’t comment today. Police records allege that a female, Sydne Harris, used to date Turner and “just wanted Turner to leave,” according to the arrest narrative.
