Nutt balances reality, dreams at SEC media days

HOOVER, ALA. — When hired in November, Houston Nutt had the name recognition and experience that Ole Miss fans and school officials craved.
But on Thursday morning at Southeastern Conference Media Days, the first-year Rebels’ coach warned that his veteran status can only help so much.
“Just ‘cause you got new coaches, new names on the walls, doesn’t necessarily mean you’re gonna win,” Nutt said. “It’s (our) guys. (They’re) out there blocking and tackling.”
And Nutt, who’s entering his 11th year in the SEC after spending the previous 10 at Arkansas, has never had a rebuilding experience quite like this — attempting to resurrect an Ole Miss football program that went 0-8 in conference last season for the first time since 1982.
