No. 13 Derek Pegues
Why he’s No. 13: One of the nation’s best defensive backs, Pegues was named the 2007 Liberty Bowl MVP after intercepting two passes in the second half of MSU’s 10-3 victory against Central Florida. He enters the season with 10 career interceptions, good for fifth on the Bulldogs’ career list. Also a prolific special teams player, Pegues has a career punt return average of 11.7 yards and kickoff return average of 22.1. Two of the 35 punts he has returned have gone back for touchdowns.
