Derek Easley Named President of Business and Industry Political Education Committee
JACKSON, Miss. (March 9, 2016) — Derek Easley has been named President of The Business and Industry Political Education Committee (BIPEC). “BIPEC is a great organization that has made real contributions towards improving Mississippi’s business and legal climate,” said Easley. “I am thankful to BIPEC’s leadership for this opportunity. I look forward to working with the business community and our elected officials as we strive to make Mississippi a better place to work and live.”
BIPEC is a nonprofit association comprised of individuals, trade associations and companies who unite to protect and advance free enterprise through research, education, and member action. BIPEC’s purpose is to learn backgrounds, voting records and key positions of members and candidates for the Mississippi Legislature, Supreme Court and Court of Appeals, disseminate credible research findings to BIPEC members, educate BIPEC’s membership network on the impact that legislator and judge-made decisions have on Mississippi’s economic growth, business attractiveness and general prosperity of the State’s employers, and to expand distribution of educational research data to the public arena when deemed appropriate for greater awareness of membership concerns and issues.
BIPEC Chairman Randy Easterling, MD said, “BIPEC is excited to welcome Derek Easley, an individual with such character and qualifications, as its new president. He has a record of leadership and has demonstrated in previous employment the exact characteristics that BIPEC is looking for. Easley has been the Governmental Affairs Director for the Mississippi Association of Realtors (MAR) for 10 years. He represented realtors’ interests before the state legislature, maintained working relationships with agencies and monitored policy development in state and federal governments relating to issues affecting the real estate industry.
Prior to joining MAR, Easley served as a Governmental Affairs advisor at Adams and Reese, and also has served as Director of Environmental and Taxation Affairs of the Mississippi Manufacturers Association.
Easley received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Mississippi College in 1999.
