Jackson airport bill survives committee; school vouchers dies

By: Magnolia Tribune - February 24, 2016

Airport, flag, school vouchers – bills live, die

A Senate bill that would usurp the city of Jackson’s control over the Jackson-Medgar Wylie Evers International Airport was among many that survived Tuesday’s deadline for committee action in the state Legislature.

Bills calling for a change in the state flag to remove its controversial Confederate battle emblem and another to create vouchers for parents to use public school dollars for private schools were among hundreds that died with the deadline.
