Lott criticizes decline of deal-making during Tupelo visit
Former U.S. Sen. Trent Lott sharply criticized the prevalence of hyper-partisanship in Washington and national politics Wednesday at Reed’s GumTree Bookstore in remarks during a book-signing event…
…Lott, speaking to an audience of about two dozen, bemoaned the fact that most members of Congress do not move their families to Washington, choosing instead a weekly commute to and from their districts.
“Forty-seven members of the House of Representatives actually sleep in their offices on cots” because a typical congressional work week is no longer five full days, Lott noted, with disdain for the practice.
