Governor Phil Bryant Appoints Rhea Sheldon 10th District Chancery Judge
JACKSON—Governor Phil Bryant announced today that he has appointed Purvis attorney Rhea Sheldon chancery judge in south Mississippi’s 10th Chancery Court District, which consists of Forrest, Lamar, Marion, Pearl River, and Perry counties.
Sheldon succeeds Judge Dawn Beam, who was appointed to the Mississippi Supreme Court by Gov. Bryant in December 2015. Sheldon’s term will begin Feb. 22.
“Mrs. Sheldon’s diverse private practice experience will serve the people of the Tenth District well,” Gov. Bryant said. “I am thankful she has agreed to serve on the chancery bench, and I know she will continue the good work of Judge Dawn Beam.”
She has been engaged in private law practice in Mississippi since 2003, and most recently as a member of Sheldon & Parker, PLLC, in Purvis, Miss., since 2009. Sheldon oversaw all litigation matters handled by the firm and was lead trial counsel on all contested domestic matters. She is a member of the Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, and Georgia Bar Associations.

Judge Dawn Beam and her predecessor Judge Sebe Dale were well respected by our bar and served the citizens of the 10th Chancery District with honor and character,” Sheldon said. “I look forward to this opportunity and will strive every day to follow in their footsteps to fulfill the office of chancery judge with the respect, honor, and integrity the seat holds and am humbled to be able to serve the citizens of the 10th Chancery District.”
In 2007, Sheldon was a recipient of the Mississippi Business Journal’s Top 50 Leading Business Women award. She is also a current member of the Mississippi Bar Ethics Committee.
Sheldon holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Southern Mississippi and earned her juris doctor from the University of Mississippi School of Law.
Sheldon is married to Jason Sheldon, and they have one child.
