Mississippi Votes to Stop Liberal Judicial Takeover of School Spending
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Tonight the Republican State Leadership Committee congratulates Mississippians on voting No on Initiative 42. Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) President Matt Walter issued the following statement:
“Voters today made the right choice in keeping education decisions – one of the most important issues for every Mississippi family – in the hands of the state legislature and out of the hands of one single judge in Hinds County. State legislators are elected to handle many issues that have the most direct impact on residents’ lives appropriately and with accountability. From education to business regulations and maintaining the roads and highways that help Mississippians get around the state, we are thrilled that voters recognized that these important responsibilities belong in the hands of reliable and accountable elected representatives.”
About the RSLC
The Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) is the largest caucus of Republican state leaders in the country and the only national organization whose mission is to elect down-ballot, state-level Republican officeholders. Since 2002, the RSLC has been working to elect candidates to the offices of lieutenant governor, attorney general, secretary of state, state legislator, the judiciary and other down-ticket races.
