Sid Salter: Kemper plant may shape PSC race
One of the more intriguing general election showdowns in Mississippi will come in the Central District Public Service Commissio race between Republican Brent Bailey, Democrat Cecil Brown and Reform Party nominee Latrice D. Notree.
Incumbent Republican Commissioner Lynn Posey is stepping down from his post in the 22-county district. Before winning election as commissioner in 2007, Posey served in the Mississippi Senate from 1988-2007. He was one of the state’s best and most able lawmakers….
…So if neither Bailey nor Brown are fans of the Kemper project, what are the issues they’ll use to define their candidacies? Brown’s career track record makes him a formidable candidate regardless of his party affiliation.
Partisan consideration aside, this race may be the most interesting one come November. But if the Dems retake the PSC, don’t take partisan considerations too far aside.
