Alamo marker honors Mississippians who died there
A monument at the Alamo in San Antonio, Texas, honors Mississippians killed in battle there in March 1836 during the Texas revolution.
State. Sen. Chris McDaniel took part in a dedication ceremony Friday at the site. The Republican from Ellisville authored the Senate resolution supporting creation of the monument.
McDaniel says the project was funded through private donations.
A replica of the monument will be presented to Gov. Phil Bryant for placement at the state Capitol in in the coming weeks.
