Barbour: Romney Loss in Michigan Would be ‘A Real Setback’

Former Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour has refused to take sides in the GOP nominating contest so far, but he came out Monday with a warning for Mitt Romney.

Speaking on CBS’ This Morning, Barbour said that a Romney loss in Michigan’s primary on Tuesday would be “a real setback” that could leave the way clear for another candidate to win the nomination.

“This is his home state, he won it last time,” Barbour said. “If he were to lose in Michigan and then Santorum, Gingrich or both have a big day on Super Tuesday, then you could see an election that goes all the way to the convention.”

Barbour said he does not plan to endorse a candidate, saying only that he is “for the one who has the best chance to beat Obama.”
