Vote keeps Nunnelee to miss honor back home
A video message will fill in for U.S. Rep. Alan Nunnelee at Tuesday’s annual awards luncheon of the Hernando Main Street Chamber of Commerce.
The lawmaker has to remain in Washington for a crucial spending vote.
“He regrets he can’t be there, but we’ll be recording a video to play that we hope will make up for it a little bit,” the Tupelo Republican’s communications coordinator, Jordan Russell, said Thursday in Washington.
“It’s a pretty big vote,” Russell said of the business keeping Nunnelee away. “We’re expected to consider a measure that contains all of the appropriations bills for the rest of the fiscal year, up to October 2012.”
