Former road manager indicted in post-Katrina kickback scheme
JACKSON, Miss. — A former Mississippi county road manager and his wife have been indicted on two federal charges of Hurricane Katrina fraud in what authorities describe as a kickback scheme.
Roger Ladner was road manager for Hancock County on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, home to quiet beach towns like Bay. St. Louis and Waveland and hit hard by the killer storm on Aug. 29, 2005.
Ladner, 55, and his wife, Sharon, 52, were indicted Tuesday and each charged with money laundering and conspiracy. Arraignment was set for Monday morning in U.S. District Court in Gulfport before Magistrate Judge Robert H. Walker.
