First two trials at Jackson federal facility scheduled
Effective Monday, potential jurors reporting for federal jury duty in Jackson will have to go to the roughly $100 million new federal courthouse across from the main post office.
The 425,000-square-foot building at 501 E. Court St. is open, and most court personnel will be moved in by the end of this week. Potential jurors have been notified that the two jury trials scheduled for next week will be held at the new courthouse.
Bordered by Court, President, South and West streets, the new courthouse brings together all court personnel, including the U.S. attorney’s office and the U.S. Marshal Service, in the same building.
