If you are one of those out there thinking, “You guys on here, you don’t know what you’re talking about. There’s no concerted effort to push liberal ideas by Mississippi Democrats, especially Speaker McCoy. He’s a good conservative. Why are you attacking McCoy and the Boys?” Glad you asked.
Below is a video taken from a Young Democrat meeting featuring Robert Hooks, Mississippi House Speaker Billy McCoy’s Political Director. Hooks admits there once was no real connection between the state Democratic Party and the legislature, that is until McCoy was elected Speaker. Hooks says McCoy was “idealogically a Democrat, he was passionately a Democrat, and he was trying to build a Democratic coalition in the House, a bi-racial coalition in the House, something that had never existed before.”
