It was no accident that a rally and tea party was staged at Biloxi’s Town Green. The Governor’s Conference is being held at the Beau Rivage Casino less than a block away.
John Rhodes is a member of the Gulf Coast “We Surround Them” organization.
“The Governor’s Conference is right down the street, and there are a lot of people who are disenfranchised. They’re angry. The’re upset, and they don’t really have a voice. The silent majority has been home on the coach,” Rhodes said.
Rhodes said his group organized this event to give the silent majority a voice.
Helene Farve, a Tylertown resident, said, “I’m standing up for the liberty and freedom of America. I feel it’s seriously in jeopardy with all the their sinking us into debt, spending money hand over fist. We don’t have it we’re devaluing the dollar.”
State Auditor Stacey Pickering echoed his words.
“The battle field is not just against our enemies overseas, but it’s a battle of ideas here within our own shores for the future and freedom of America,” Pickering said. “That battle of ideas has to start with you and me. It’s not a republican or democratic issue. It’s not a right or left issue. The reason we’re gathered here today, it’s right verses wrong.”
Lt. Governor Phil Bryant agrees.
Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant said, “The federal government, they’ve taken over the banks. They’ve taken over the insurance companies, and now, they’re talking about taking over the medical profession. taking over health care. And I’m very concerned about where we’re moving in this country as a republican conservative. I want to stand up and say stop this thing.”
The event was called the 9-12 project because organizers say the day after 9-11 the country was united. A similar rally will be held at the Gulfport Sportsplex on September 12th.”
