City Council wants lawn parking ban resurrected

For almost seven years, a Jackson city ordinance that bans parking vehicles on front lawns has gone unenforced.

Now, the City Council is asking city attorneys to sort out how the ordinance should be enforced.

Council members on Monday said that the city needs to pinpoint which department should enforce the parking ban. It was unclear if the city’s code enforcement division or the Jackson Police Department should be in charge.

“For us to still be at that juncture is a sad commentary,” Councilman Marshand Crisler said.
