The Jackson City Council raised questions Tuesday about whether the city should approve budget cuts proposed by Mayor Frank Melton.
But council members did not offer any ways to avoid the cuts.
The debate was part of a series of hearings the council’s budget committee is holding leading up to the passage of a 2008-09 spending plan.
The committee heard from the Parks and Recreation and Personnel departments Tuesday as well as from the Jackson Municipal Airport Authority and Jackson/Hinds Library System.
