Farish project: ‘Wait and see’

By: Magnolia Tribune - August 11, 2008

The Clarion-Ledger, 8/10/8

With construction on Farish Street set to start as early as October, some of the new tenants could include a comedy club, a gospel music venue and museum and a blues club.

Local developer David Watkins, now a partner in the project, said big names such as Morgan Freeman, B.B. King and Deuce McAllister plan to invest in the estimated $50 million development that is expected to help revitalize night-life in downtown Jackson.

The first phase in the now expanded redevelopment of Farish Street is projected to be open for business by this time next year.

But Jackson’s leaders are cautiously optimistic.
