Former Gov. Ronnie Musgrove is asking Sen. Roger Wicker to participate in a series of town-hall meetings leading up to the November Senate election.
Wicker’s campaign is not rejecting the request but appears to want more control over the schedule and format.
Musgrove proposed that there be eight meetings – two in each of the state’s four congressional districts, with the first set for July 1.
“I believe that the voters of Mississippi will be best served by a real discussion of the issues,” Musgrove said in a news release Tuesday. “No highly stylized presidential-type debates – just a series of frank conversations with voters.”
