Legislative brinksmanship: House adjourns on 67-50 vote after passing two bills
Barbour spokesman Pete Smith has said the agenda of a special session is the governor’s prerogative — and he’s right. But Democrats in the House just sent Barbour a message that their prerogative is to decide the fate of the agenda he sets.
What this sets up is another round of partisan bickering and more special sessions.
Barbour dropped some surprise issues on the lawmakers yesterday. House Democrats retaliated today.
