Barbour, Eaves argue over each other’s records

Mississippi’s gubernatorial candidates are sharpening their criticism of each other as they prepare for their debate Thursday night in Starkville.

Republican Gov. Haley Barbour started airing a television ad Wednesday saying Democratic challenger John Arthur Eaves Jr. is “wrong for Mississippi.” The 30-second spot criticizes attorney Eaves for suing the U.S. military and says Eaves has been making false claims about Barbour.

Eaves, in turn, has been running an ad that criticizes Barbour for vetoing a cigarette tax and cutting Medicaid enrollment.
