Insurance Commissioner George Dale likely will remain a Democrat in future elections, a spokesman said, despite his desire to become an independent after party officials tossed him out, allowed him to return and then changed their minds.
Calhoun County Circuit Judge Henry Lackey denied Dale’s request to seek re-election as an independent and instead ordered the Democratic Party to put Dale on its August primary ballot. Lackey said he did not have authority to grant Dale’s request.
