Taxpayers might have to pay the legal bills that Jackson Mayor Frank Melton and his police bodyguards incurred during their felony trial for damaging a duplex in northwest Jackson.
O’Reilly-Evans said such a review guarantees nothing but follows procedure. “Traditionally, when our police officers are charged with a crime, they have gone out and obtained their own counsel. And if they are exonerated, we re-review it at that time,” she said. “We will treat these the same.”
