Members of the Independent Review Group told a House government oversight committee the military health care system has systemic flaws that go beyond the poor care and conditions found at Walter Reed.
Those flaws include care that is focused on inpatient medical procedures rather than outpatient rehabilitation, a blind spot when it comes to treating mental and neurological disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder or traumatic brain injuries and a disability rating system that pits troops and their families against the medical establishment.
