Mississippi Supreme Court, Court of Appeals elections set for 2024

Four seats on the Mississippi Supreme Court and three seats on the Court of Appeals will be decided in the 2024 election cycle. See which ones are up this coming year.

On the ballot in Mississippi in 2024 will be four state Supreme Court seats as well as three seats on the Court of Appeals. Qualifying for these seats opens January 2nd and runs through February 1st.

The term of office for these judicial seats is eight years. Elections for the seats on these appellant courts are staggered.

Up for election on the Mississippi Supreme Court are Justices Jim Kitchens (Central District), Dawn Beam (Southern District), Robert Chamberlin (Northern District), James Maxwell (Northern District).

On the Court of Appeals, the seats of Judges Latrice Westbrooks (District 2), Jack Wilson (District 3), and Joel Smith (District 5) are up for election.

All incumbents appear to be seeking re-election.

Candidates for these seats must statement of intent and pay the qualifying fee of $200 to the Secretary of State’s office. Candidates must be at least 30 years of age, a practicing attorney and a citizen of the state for five years preceding the day of election.

These elections are non-partisan. There is no party primary. All candidates will appear on the November 5th General Election ballot.
