Hosemann qualified at the Mississippi Republican Party headquarters amidst family, lawmakers.
Lt. Governor Delbert Hosemann made his way from the Capitol today just down the street to the Mississippi Republican Party headquarters to officially qualify to run for re-election. He was joined at the event by his family, including grandchildren who led the large crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance prior to remarks being made by his son Mark Hosemann. Also in attendance were a number of supportive lawmakers.
If re-elected, it would be Hosemann’s second term as Lieutenant Governor.
He is kicking off the campaign with a three-day trip across the state. Hosemann will speak to supporters on the Gulf Coast, Hattiesburg, Meridian, Columbus, Tupelo, DeSoto County, Greenwood, Natchez and Brookhaven, before heading back to Jackson for session on Monday.
“As a father and grandfather, I care about making Mississippi an even better place for all of our children and grandchildren—and this work is never really done,” Hosemann said. “We are grateful for the support we have received for our responsible, conservative approach to running state government. We want to continue to find solutions to the kitchen table issues Mississippians care about: jobs, inflation, schools, healthcare systems, and infrastructure.”
Hosemann’s platform will center on growing the state’s economy with an educated workforce, reorganizing state government, encouraging small business and start-up growth, addressing infrastructure issues, and improving access to healthcare.
Hosemann is a Warren County native and a former Secretary of State. He received a bachelor’s degree from Notre Dame and a law degree from Ole Miss. He also has a Master of Laws in Taxation from New York University. He practiced law with Phelps Dunbar, LLP and served in the United States Army Reserve.
As of this reporting, no other candidate has announced their intent to seek the Lt. Governor seat in either political party.
