WLOX – White House official visits Ole Miss to discuss COVID-19 response efforts
Saturday, Dr. Deborah Birx, the coronavirus response coordinator for the White House Coronavirus Task Force, visited the University of Mississippi to discuss ongoing efforts to mitigate the virus.
According to University of Mississippi News, Dr. Birx toured the UM campus to learn more about the university’s COVID-19 protocols and procedures. This visit is a part of a series of visits to select universities across the country.
“It’s clear that this university has put the health of the students first and the health of the community first, and I just wanted to thank the administration and their leadership for their work here on campus,” Dr. Birx said during a press conference Saturday.

CLARION LEDGER – Mississippi election 2020: Issues before voters include state flag, medical marijuana
Mississippi residents will vote on people and issues in the Nov. 3 general election.
The ballot will list candidates for president, U.S. House and Senate and state Supreme Court.
Three issues are on the ballot. One is the question of whether to legalize medical marijuana. Another is whether to eliminate an electoral college provision in races for governor and other statewide offices. The third is a yes-or-no vote on a single proposal for a new state flag.
SUNHERALD – Hundreds of Jeeps parade across MS Coast to support President Trump, photos show
Hundreds of people in Jeeps paraded through downtown Bay St. Louis and down U.S. 90 on Saturday morning to support President Donald Trump.
The “Jeepers for Trump” event began on South Beach Boulevard. The Jeeps were expected to turn onto the beach highway and drive across the Mississippi Gulf Coast, ending in Ocean Springs.
The Jeeps were filled with people and displayed flags supporting Trump. Jeeps also flew American flags, police flags, and the former Mississippi state flag with the Confederate emblem.
WLBT – Hundreds of ‘Boaters for Trump’ gather at the Reservoir to support the president’s reelection
At the Reservoir Saturday, hundreds of boats turned out to support President Donald Trump in his bid for reelection in November.
Boaters and water enthusiasts from around the state turned out with their flags and banners, some in their bathing suits with their coolers, showing solidarity for their candidate while enjoying an almost perfect day on the water.
“With 911 being yesterday, you know for 19 years we’ve said ‘Never Forget,’ and the way the world’s climate is right now, we need to do anything we can to unify us and get a lot of people together. So, when the Trump parade came along, that was like, ‘Hey it sounds like a great time to unify America’ right there,” said J.J. Branch.
