Capitol Resources forms partnership with former senior White House official Michael McKenna

By: Frank Corder - April 9, 2020

Capitol Resources LLC is expanding its federal lobbying and public affairs firms by joining forces with Michael McKenna and MWR Strategies.

McKenna most recently worked in the White House as Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of the Office of Legislative Affairs.  He previously worked for the Reagan and Bush Administrations. He has consulted a wide variety of political and corporate clients with respect to government relations, opinion research, marketing, message development and communications strategies.

This expansion not only strengthens the Capitol Resources federal and state lobbying team, but also adds depth to CR subsidiary BullsEye Public Affairs. Capitol Resources is one of the largest and most versatile state-based lobbying and public affairs firms in the country with strong teams in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, West Virginia and Washington, D.C.

“Mike is among the rare breed blessed with both policy depth and political talent. We are excited about working with him,” commented Capitol Resources managing partner Henry Barbour. “Mike and I have been friends since 1988; he’s super talented, loves policy and is especially strong on energy and environmental issues. Mike understands how Washington works, has deep relationships throughout the Administration and Congress and helps position us for continued growth in Washington and with our public affairs efforts across the country.”

“I’m excited to partner with Capitol Resources and look forward to serving the needs of clients in Washington and across their footprint,” added McKenna. “I also look forward to helping CR’s BullsEye Public Affairs team in their grassroots efforts throughout the country.  It is a natural addition to and evolution of our advocacy efforts.”

McKenna’s most recent assignment in the West Wing of the White House allowed him to advise the President and his team on critical policy and legislative matters and work closely with Congressional leadership and staff.

Before going to the White House, Mike established his firm, MWR Strategies, as a great source of information, insight and counsel. Mike’s experience in opinion research and communications coupled with his policy depth provide great value to clients.

Mike has an extensive academic and professional background in public opinion research and communications. He has conducted research and advocated for a variety of corporate, political, and association clients over the past three decades, and his work has appeared in a host of outlets including; The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Chicago Tribune, National Review, Fox News, MSNBC, CNN, and C-SPAN.

Established in 2001 by Clare Hester, Capitol Resources LLC is a multi-state full-service government relations and public affairs firm based in Jackson, MS. The firm’s partners are Clare Hester, John Lundy, and Henry Barbour.
