U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Steve Mnuchin announced on Twitter Friday morning that the federal tax filing deadline has moved from April 15th to July 15th.
“At President Trump’s direction, we are moving Tax Day from April 15 to July 15,” Mnuchin wrote. “All taxpayers and businesses will have this additional time to file and make payments without interest or penalties.”

Y’all Politics reached out to the Mississippi Department of Revenue to see if they would be following the President’s lead on extending the deadline for state filers but no decision has been made yet.
“We have not yet come to a decision on that,” a spokeperson for MDOR said, adding, “There should be a decision in the next day or two.”
