Atmos Energy and Public Service Commissioner Brent Bailey made a $5,350 check presentation to Jackson Public Schools for the installation of energy efficient natural combination ovens and condensing water heaters in the cafeterias of elementary schools.
Under the direction of the Mississippi Public Service commission, Atmos Energy has implemented energy efficiency programs for customers since 2014.
The Atmos Energy SmartChoice program helps to foster increased access to energy efficient products and technologies for all customers throughout Mississippi.

POLITICO – Gregg Harper registers to lobby
Former Rep. Gregg Harper (R-Miss.), who landed at the law and lobbying firm Watkins & Eager after leaving office last year, has registered as a lobbyist. He’ll lobby for AARP and the National Fragile X Foundation, which advocates on behalf of those with the genetic disorder. Harper also registered as a foreign agent working on behalf of Taiwan’s government. He’ll encourage his former colleagues to support “Taiwan’s trade priorities, defense priorities, and full participation in international organizations,” according to a disclosure filing. The six-month contract is worth $18,000 a month, according to a copy filed with the Justice Department.

WTVA – Judge makes final ruling in Monroe County supervisor’s race
A Monroe County supervisor’s race is finally over, three months since the election.
Rubel West is the new 3rd District supervisor.
He defeated Brian Atkins by 14 votes in November’s general election 1,071 to 1,057 respectively.
Shortly after the election, Atkins challenged the results, claiming voting irregularities.
