U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., today issued the following statement after the passing of U.S. Senator John McCain, R-Ariz.

“John McCain devoted his life to a cause greater than himself – his country. As a Navy airman, prisoner of war, member of Congress, and a U.S. Senator he courageously served our nation with honor for decades. His tenacity, persistence, and grit were legendary, but never more so than during his battle with cancer. I will greatly miss our friendship and our work together, particularly on the Armed Services Committee. Gayle and I send our heartfelt condolences and prayers to Cindy and the McCain family.”
