US Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith has released a new TV ad reaffirming her support of Trump’s Supreme Court Pick Brett Kavanaugh. This will be part of TV buy airing around the state in the coming weeks.
This ad appears to be part of an effort to force the hand of Mike Espy, a Democrat, who’s running in the same primary. To date, the Espy camp has been silent on whether or not he will oppose Kavanaugh as the vast majority of elected Senate Democrats have vowed to do.
“One of the most important jobs I have as your United States Senator is to vote on the new Supreme Court justice to protect religious freedom, promote the right to life and support constitutional liberties, including our Second Amendment gun rights,” Hyde-Smith says in the ad.
“That’s why I’m supporting President Trump’s nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, to make sure we have a constitutional conservative majority on the Supreme Court.”
Confirmation hearings for Kavanaugh are scheduled to begin Sept. 4, and will likely be concluded prior to the November election.
