Brad Dye was a former Mississippi Lt. Governor who passed away from respiratory failure at the age of 84.

Public service ran in his blood. His father was a Representative in the Mississippi House, while an uncle and grandfather both served as sheriffs.

He ran for Senate in 1963 but later took a position with the state Workers’ Compensation Commission. Among many other accomplishments he held the office of Lt. Governor from 1980 to 1992. He was a conservative Democrat.

Senator Roger Wicker:

“Brad Dye is one of the finest public servants I have ever known. He made a tremendous contribution to infrastructure, government reform, health care, and education. He was also a wonderful husband to Donna and a great father. I am honored to have been counted as his friend.”
